SHIELDS-UP

Cybersecurity | David Santoso

Cybersecurity researchers reported that there were 623 million ransomware attacks, or a 1.7 million attacks per day – a growth of 105% globally in 2021.

The number of attacks only grew as cyber criminals continue to take advantage of the poor level of cybersecurity awareness by many organizations’ employees. In the first quarter of 2022 alone, several giant enterprises including Microsoft, Samsung, Nvidia and two of Toyota suppliers Denso Corp and Bridgestone Americas have been hit by cyberattacks.

Here’s the bad news: things are likely to get even worse unless we do something about it. On March 21, President Joe Biden urged business leaders to harden cyber defenses immediately based on evolving intelligence that the Russian Government is exploring options for potential cyberattacks against the U.S. private sectors.

Every organization — large and small — must be prepared to respond to disruptive cyber incidents. In fact, small businesses are ideal target for hackers because of their lack of resources and security expertise.

The Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has prepared a mitigation guidance SHIELDS UP to help protect cyber systems and networks. If you’re a startup or small business owner and need help to implement the guidance, do not hesitate to contact Liberty Technology Solutions. We’re committed to support locally owned startup and small businesses in Greater Houston to be prepared for, respond to, and mitigate the impact of cyberattacks.
